The Southeast Angle is one of the most well known ski areas in Alaska. Located on the southwest coast of Alaska, it has a rich history in the early days as a summer resort and during the later years it became one of the country’s premier ski resorts.
Located on the banks of Eagle River, this region of Alaska is one of the few places that are completely surrounded by ocean and has beautiful weather year round. In addition to this, the slopes at Southeast Angle provide some of the best skiing in the world.
There are several activities that you can do during your stay in the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery. At a minimum, however, you should check out the boat tours offered from the Southeast Angle Ski Resort.
Some of the fishing opportunities include halibut, salmon, halibut, and king salmon. Once you have fished the halibut, you may want to try the North Slope salmon chowder. The color of the fresh salmon will astound you!
You may also want to consider kayaking in the Eastern Slope. In fact, kayaking is the most popular sport for those who are not interested in fishing. Kayaking offers many exciting and thrilling activities.
Kayaking on the East Slope provides wonderful views of glaciers at the same time. There are many opportunities for boating, fishing, and hiking. Most of the kayaks that are used are inflatable boats.
A number of lake charters are available in the area. Each charters generally will offer a full service, which means they will be able to take care of everything from the planning of your trip to the fishing and snowmobiling. Most charters also offer skiing for guests who are interested in exploring the slopes. Lake Charters are located around Dillingham, Valdez, and Battle Ground. This means that you can reach each location with minimal difficulty. If you choose to go by land, the various areas you will travel through include Little Valdez, Head of the Slopes, Northwest Angle, Prospect Valley, and East Slope.
Your only trip of approximately one hundred fifty feet or so should provide you with a short hike to the lake where you can find many edibles and a small village that is home to a local school and a community center. Although the short hike is relatively short, it does take you past a vast expanse of rough white cliffs. As you are near the top of the cliff, you may be able to see St. Paul Island and Glacier Point.
The southeastern part of Alaska, including the town of Dillingham, is located on a peninsula that sits right off the Alaska coastline. Although it is not directly across from the Southeast Angle, you may find that you are able to find a great vacation rental on the area as well.
Ray Kirby and his family have built a beautiful cottage with a home theater and large wooded backyard. The bedrooms have beds in the form of logs so that you can take advantage of the Native Alaskan style of rooms and each bedroom has its own private beach.
If you are interested in experiencing the charm of the Southeast Angle, you will be pleased to know that there are dozens of other vacation rentals in Alaska that are situated on this very popular area. Although it may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of skiing, there is no doubt that you will agree that Southeast Angle is one of the best places in the world to visit.
